Laugh, alot!

It’s becoming colder in Durban. So on most nights, I find myself wrapped up all snug, sitting at my craft desk, trying to create some magic.

I bought some Julie Nutting stamps for a tag swap that I participated in and never used it again. After finding Julie Nutting on Instagram, I decided that I want to make a card with her stamps.

Here’s a quick description of this card’s process:

  • Using a brick wall stencil and Ranger distress inks, I blended a wall background onto plain white cardstock.
  • I die cut a small picket fence,  a small paper doily, a doily topper and some leaves.
  • I stamped the doll several times on different sheets of patterned paper and using the paper piecing method, I created the doll image for the card.

Once all the elements for this card was prepared, putting this card together was seamless. To add dimension to the card, I used a raised wooden word embellishment. I finished the card off with some splatters of inks, pearls and diamantes.

Laugh, it’s an instant vacation, said Milton Berl – so I hope that my card made you take an instant vacation.

Catching rainbows

It is said that life is about using the whole box of crayons, I’d like my life to be about using all my Ranger Distress Inks! I had no idea where I was going with this card, all I knew was that I needed to use this beautiful bubble stencil and these gorgeous bright inks.

I love distress inks and with practise I have mastered the art of blending.

After blending a few brights, I stamped a cute image with a sentiment.

Lesson Learnt: At my next attempt, I should add a card topper to enhance my background. Perhaps for this colourful background, direct stamping is not the best choice.
